And when it was all over

I sighed because I knew

that I would never quite love someone as I had you.

And who knew after all these years later

That would still remain true

You’re like a song stuck in my head

I keep catching myself humming to the rhythm of you

He held me so tight I believed he could squeeze together all my broken pieces

I realized I was thinking of you

I began to wonder how long you'd been on my mind

Then it occurred to me… since I’ve met you

You’ve never left

You make me want to write poetry

astonishing how all my walls come knocking down

by a simple act of your interlocking glance

or the slight touch of your skin across mine
