Baby Bird

I saw a little stranded baby bird one day walking in the city.

It was so small, I was afraid someone would step on it without even acknowledging there was a life under their foot. Its feathers were ruffled, it had some missing feather patches, and couldnā€™t fly no matter how hard it tried. The baby bird was crying and looking around in panic as if it was abandoned. It looked so helpless and I just wanted to help.

I watched over the bird, protected it, without ever touching to make sure it was safe and everyone was aware there was this little creature of life was right in front of their eyes. My brother got the little bird some bread, even though it wouldnā€™t take any, we tried our best to care for it. We spent about thirty minutes with this bird watching it walk about and made sure it safely crossed the road without getting hit in the busy traffic of city. Until it finally found, and I can only assume, the momma bird. It walked away with her and seemed to be happier within her company.

The time I spent with this creation of life was nothing. Taking a little extra time out of my day to care for another being filled my soul with love. I wasnā€™t selfish and kept on walking, animals need our help sometimes.

Another day, I saw a turtle crossing the road. I had to make a u-turn, run across the street hoping to not get hit by oncoming traffic, pick it up, put it on the other side of the road safely, then run back hoping to not get hit again, just to make another u-turn to go back to what I was doing. Sometimes helping others isnā€™t the most convenient, but the sense of joy you receive after is worth it and so rewarding.

I felt so happy I was able to make some sort of impact, even if it was something small. I felt connected to nature, because caring for each other is our nature. Nothing in nature lives for itself; river donā€™t drink their own water, tree donā€™t eat their own fruit, the sun doesnā€™t shine for itself. Helping others is a rule of nature to help our souls feel fulfillment and love!
