“Home”

There is something so bitter-sweet about change. It frees you from the past to immerse you in the present. New experiences, connections, emotions, and growth. It is so freeing and up-lifting.

I’ve wanted change my whole life. I never quite felt right in the environment I was once in and constantly wished for a new atmosphere. When I finally moved, I felt free and things felt right within the moment. I didn’t miss home or even looked back, I was fulfilled in my new ‘home’. Or so I thought.

What is home to you? Is it a house or a certain place or the people? There are so many perspectives of the word ‘home’, so many different meanings. It comes down to wherever your heart is as each person’s definition is uniquely different.

Change is amazing, until the sudden realization hits you that you are surrounded by a bunch of strangers. No one knows who you are. All those years and time spent with family and friends who have learned about you inside and out are now hundreds of miles away. You mean nothing more than just another stranger to everyone around you. They don’t know what makes you feel so alive you could radiate the sun from within or what completely drains you of all your energy. They don’t know how beautifully imperfect you are.

You get accustomed to being surrounded by numerous close friends and almost take for granted always having them around you until suddenly you don’t. But absence makes you appreciate presence.

It’s difficult not having someone who knows the depths of your soul to help you feel grounded in a new life. But that’s the point. There is no growth in comfort. There is no growth in remaining the same. Breaking down your personal comfort walls so you may understand yourself further to build your foundation up even stronger is a part of life.

Life is all about balance, being free yet grounded. Through new experiences you’ll learn to feel grounded within yourself by yourself, because everything you need is already within you. It’s always there for whenever you decide to open your eyes to the true power you contain within.

You’ll learn to find a home within yourself. Because there’s also a beauty in moving somewhere totally new, no one knows you. (:

It’s all about your perception.
